- You can learn more about the study, how we protect your information, and what participation involves by reading our Participant Information Sheet.

What’s involved?
Step 1: Quick eligibility check
- You’ll answer a few short questions (it takes less than 5 minutes) to see if your child can take part.
Step 2: Consent form
- If eligible, you’ll be asked to review and complete a consent form to confirm you're happy for your child to participate.
Step 3: Online survey
- Next, you’ll complete a 15-20 minute online survey with questions about your child and your family. This helps us understand your child’s background and environment.
Step 4: Book a growth appointment
- You’ll then choose a convenient time and location for your child’s growth measurement (weight and height). We'll be setting up temporary study sites across your area - in places like Children's centres - to make it easier for families to easily join.
Step 5: Food records
- Before and after the appointment, you’ll receive an invitation to record what your child eats on 3 separate days using the Myfood24 platform. The invitation will include help videos for filling in the records.
Step 6: Follow-up in 1 year
- One year later, we’ll repeat the process and add a dental check during your child’s growth appointment
Thank you!
- As a token of appreciation, you’ll receive up to £50 in shopping vouchers for your time and participation.
Who can join?
- Children aged 6 months to 4 years, living in the study areas - Leeds, Doncaster and around the Tower Hamlets area in East London
- Planning to live in the UK for the next 18 months
- Child lives with the consenting parent or guardian for at least some part of the week
- Child has not been diagnosed with a long-term condition that affects their growth or development
However, we may not be able to accept everyone if for example we have recruited enough children in a certain age range. This is to ensure we can represent children from all ages and backgrounds.
